Ok - you have built 4 cottages - up to level 2.
And you have built 3 sawmills - up to level 2.
If you look over on the right side - in your resource panel area - you will now see your population growing, your gold growing and your lumber growing - that is a good thing.
But we also want your food growing as well as your stone and iron.
So go into your city again and let's build a Farm, a Quarry and an IronMine.
Again use the speed up feature to get those little workers done quick. And let's build them up to level 2 right away.
By now you should have noticed that each time you build something - it takes resources (resources are food, lumber, stone and iron - and at times Gold). So you always have to keep an eye on your resources to be sure you have enough to build what you want.
The good thing about resources is that now that we have cottages for people to live in, and Sawmills, Farms, Quarries and IronMines - they will keep growing - and they will grow even if we are not at the computer playing. So if you go away for a few hours or a day - you will come back to even more resources than when you left.
And the more Sawmills you have - the more lumber you will be able to produce.
The more Farms you have - the more food you can grow.
The more Quarries you have - the more stone you can get.
The more IronMines you have - the more iron you can acquire.
But you need people to work at these - so having cottages is important to grow your population. And remember - more people equals more TAXES and more Gold!
Therefore always try to build up your basics - Cottages, Sawmills, Quaries, Farms and IronMines. Especially before you have to leave for a bit - so the system can work effectively when you are gone.
To make your city work best we must increase our production rates. so let's get to our Town Hall overview (two ways to get there - click 'Overview just below the picture in the top right - or click on your Town Hall in your town). Then click on 'Production'.
You will see a chart that has Food - Lumber - Stone - Iron across the top. Four (4) rows down you will see the 'Production Rate'. You can adjust that - I suggest adjust them all to 100 now that you have cottages and basics built. That will get them all working efficiently. Then click Modify and you can close that area (X at top corner).
Now let's take a quick look at the Quests. You may have noticed in the bottom left there are some icons - one is labled 'Quest'. There should by now be a red number on top of it - which means you have some Awards waiting for you. Click on Quest and let's see what is waiting for us.
Scroll through the left menu - look for any green check marks - those are the quest's that you have done. Quests are simply tasks or things to get done to improve in the game. And the system rewards you for some of them.
Find your awards and collect them. Also look through the other quests and decide which you would like to try. Go ahead and explore a bit and build up your town and city.

Step One - How to Begin at Evony
When you first register at Evony you are then taken to your Town!
At the top you will see three tabs - Town - City - Map - these are your views of the area. Pretty obvious that Town shows your inner town view (inside your walls). City shows the extended city view (town walls plus your fields) and the Map shows the whole surrounding countryside.
The Town and City Views you will use the most.
Two things are your best starting jobs. Create Cottages and create Sawmills.
Cottages allow people to move in (they move in automatically if there is room). More people mean more workers and MORE Gold (from tax revenue).
Sawmills allow you to get more lumber. Lumber is your main resource for building things throughout the game (although you also need stone and iron).
So creating cottages and Sawmills is as easy as clicking on grass squares in the right place and choosing what you want to build. Inside the Town you can build cottages and out in the City you can build Sawmills.
I would suggest building 4 (four) Cottages and 3 (three) Sawmills ASAP (as soon as possible).
As you build them the systems takes a little time to get them created (you will see the worker working and a fence around anything inside the town). But lucky for you it has a speed up feature that is free for the things that are quick to build. So once you have created either a cottage or a sawmill - click on it again and then you will be able to choose speed up - which will build it instantly. Then the cottage or sawmill will be level 1 (you will see a 1 in front of it).
While we are there why not make it level 2 - simply click on it (you may already be on it if you just clicked the speedup) and click 'Upgrade'. This will get the little builders working again - and again you can click speed up.
So go ahead and build 4 cottages and 3 sawmills.
