Ok - you have built 4 cottages - up to level 2.
And you have built 3 sawmills - up to level 2.
If you look over on the right side - in your resource panel area - you will now see your population growing, your gold growing and your lumber growing - that is a good thing.
But we also want your food growing as well as your stone and iron.
So go into your city again and let's build a Farm, a Quarry and an IronMine.
Again use the speed up feature to get those little workers done quick. And let's build them up to level 2 right away.
By now you should have noticed that each time you build something - it takes resources (resources are food, lumber, stone and iron - and at times Gold). So you always have to keep an eye on your resources to be sure you have enough to build what you want.
The good thing about resources is that now that we have cottages for people to live in, and Sawmills, Farms, Quarries and IronMines - they will keep growing - and they will grow even if we are not at the computer playing. So if you go away for a few hours or a day - you will come back to even more resources than when you left.
And the more Sawmills you have - the more lumber you will be able to produce.
The more Farms you have - the more food you can grow.
The more Quarries you have - the more stone you can get.
The more IronMines you have - the more iron you can acquire.
But you need people to work at these - so having cottages is important to grow your population. And remember - more people equals more TAXES and more Gold!
Therefore always try to build up your basics - Cottages, Sawmills, Quaries, Farms and IronMines. Especially before you have to leave for a bit - so the system can work effectively when you are gone.
To make your city work best we must increase our production rates. so let's get to our Town Hall overview (two ways to get there - click 'Overview just below the picture in the top right - or click on your Town Hall in your town). Then click on 'Production'.
You will see a chart that has Food - Lumber - Stone - Iron across the top. Four (4) rows down you will see the 'Production Rate'. You can adjust that - I suggest adjust them all to 100 now that you have cottages and basics built. That will get them all working efficiently. Then click Modify and you can close that area (X at top corner).
Now let's take a quick look at the Quests. You may have noticed in the bottom left there are some icons - one is labled 'Quest'. There should by now be a red number on top of it - which means you have some Awards waiting for you. Click on Quest and let's see what is waiting for us.
Scroll through the left menu - look for any green check marks - those are the quest's that you have done. Quests are simply tasks or things to get done to improve in the game. And the system rewards you for some of them.
Find your awards and collect them. Also look through the other quests and decide which you would like to try. Go ahead and explore a bit and build up your town and city.
